MyMomShops Giveaway: Amazon.com Kids Boutique $50 Gift Certificate

Longtime readers of this blog know how much I love Amazon.com. I've been ordering from it since 1998 (want to take a trip down memory lane? Look at your past order histories at Amazon). But I never really bought my kids' clothing there, until now...

Amazon.com has just introduced its Amazon Kids Boutique which features top designer brands like Splendid Littles, Levi's, and Tea Collection. Not only is the clothing selection great (rivalling any top boutique) but the prices are often discounted, and if you are an Amazon Prime member you will get free two-day shipping on most items. Which is a much better deal than paying full price at other sites, plus hefty shipping fees even on small orders, don't you think?

I recently got to attend a Fall Preview by Amazon Kids Boutique and was very impressed with the brands that they carry--I spotted Hartstrings, Charlie Rocket, and Hatley (including S's farmer raincoat), among others:

The generous folks at Amazon.com gave me a $50 gift certificate to try out the Amazon Kids Boutique, as well as another $50 gift certificate to give away to one of my readers (scroll down for contest details). I bought a back-to-school outfit for S, including new Levi's jeans that he badly needed:

Charlie Rocket Boys Mini Thermal Hoodie (reduced to $18.97 from $38, sizes 2-7)

Levi's Boys Slim Straight Jean (reduced to $24.99 from $40; sizes 2-7)

I didn't get anything for R. this time, but I did see some terrific girls' clothing for back-to-school:

Splendid Littles Girls Tri Blend Stripe Tunic Set in Teal ($62, sizes 2T-6x)

Mimi & Maggie Girls Toddler Village Flower Dress in Rose ($68, sizes 2T-4T)

Go check it out! Visit Amazon Kids Boutique for more top back-to-school threads.

MyMomShops Giveaway: Custom Birthday Shirts by Sew Silly Designs

Our festive August birthday month has arrived- S. turns 3 this Friday and R. turns 6 twelve days later. As promised, this week's giveaway (the last giveaway before I leave for vacation) is a hand-sewn birthday tee by the Etsy shop Sew Silly Designs. I purchased one of these shirts for S. already and am so pleased with it (especially considering the price- $12!). The vintage fabrics are adorable and you can work with the designer to mix-and-match the color, fabric, and age that you'd like for your boy or girl. The designs shown above are just two possibilities. Check out all the options at Sew Silly Designs.

Win it! 1 MyMomShops reader will win their choice of customized birthday tee from Sew Silly Designs (retail value $12). Here are the contest rules:

1) To enter, please comment on THIS post (click on "comments" below), indicating what your favorite item at Sew Silly Designs is (click here for all of the products- please note you do not have to name the birthday tee as your favorite item in order to win the contest).
2) Post your comment by 11:59pm EST Thursday, August 6th. One entry per person, please. US addresses only.
3) One winner will be chosen at random and announced on Friday morning, August 7th.

MyMomShops Giveaway: Linaloos

Boston mom Jennifer Malone founded Linaloos when she started receiving compliments on the hand-made barrettes she had created for her baby daughter (who has twin older brothers). Jennifer started selling some of the barrettes and now Linaloos is sold in boutqiues throughout New England. The sweet hair clips and pins are handmade using vintage sweaters (so they are eco-friendly and "upcycled") with added felt and embroidery. Most designs can be ordered as a baby barrette, little girl barrette, elastic hair band or pins.

What I especially like about Linaloos designs is that in addition to the usual pretty pink barrettes you'd expect, there are some more unusual but equally attractive (and clever) ones. Check out the Peanut-Free Zone barrette, or the Red Sox Nation barrette, or the Reduce, Reuse, Recycle barrette, to name a few. Each costs $8.

It's also worth mentioning that even as a small business, Linaloos feels a responsibility to give back to the community. Linaloos has partnered with the Childhood Leukemia Foundation and donated hair accessories to them for their Hugs U Wear program, which collects donated hair and uses it to make wigs for children undergoing chemotherapy treatments. Each purchase you make from Linaloos is matched by a donation to the Hugs U Wear program so that a child can receive a special hair clip to wear in their new hairpiece.

Note: Linaloos is offering MyMomShops readers a $1 discount per barrette if they mention "MyMomShops" in the "notes to seller" section at checkout. Please note: after you do this, choose the "pay later" option so that Linaloos may first send you a revised invoice reflecting your discount.

Win it! 1 MyMomShops reader will win her choice of 3 barrettes from Linaloos (total retail value: $24). Here are the contest rules:

1) To enter, please comment on THIS post (click on "comments" below), indicating which 3 barrettes you'd choose (click here for all of the choices).
2) Post your comment by 11:59pm EST Thursday, July 30th. One entry per person, please. US addresses only.
3) Two winners will be chosen at random and announced on Friday morning, July 31st.
4) NOTE: If you wish to be contacted by e-mail if you win, please include your e-mail address in your comment. Otherwise you must check back on Friday to see if you won. Unclaimed prizes are forfeited after 72 hours.

Garnet Hill Kids' Design Contest

I just got my new Growing Up Garnet Hill catalog and have bookmarked so many great pieces of girl's clothing (though I'm still bummed they don't sell boys' wear anymore). Something else that is new right now at Garnet Hill is a kids' design contest on its Facebook page, where kids 12 and under can try their hand at designing a tee for the chance to win one of $100 Garnet Hill gift cards (plus a custom tee and water bottle with their own artwork). Entries are being accepted through August 9th, and will be judged based on creativity, originality and overall designs. Want more info. on how to enter? Visit Garnet Hill's Facebook page for all teh details.

MyMomShops Giveaway: The Little Experience

My kids and I stayed with my best friend and her family (her husband and three children ages 4, 6, and 8) when we travelled to Boston last month for my college reunion. I wanted to bring some fun, crafty activities for our total of five kids to work on together, but one that would not make a total mess. I decided on the kits from The Little Experience which I had spotted at last spring's Bubble show. The Little Experience is British import (now available Stateside) offering a range of adorable all-inclusive craft kits for kids. Each package includes all you need (ex: paint brushes, fabric, scissors) to make the craft from start to finish. Some of them even have packaging that unfolds to become a backdrop or set for the craft. There are "girly" projects, boy-friendly projects, and projects that appeal to all (grown-ups, too...I kinda wished I had bought one for myself). Ideally, they are for children ages 5 and up, but younger kids can get crafty too with the help of a big sib or parent. These also make unique party favors, depending on your budget.

Cattiwampus, an online kids' boutique I've mentioned here before, sells some of The Little Experience's best-selling kits including Build Your Own Rocket ($7.50), Enchanted Castle ($15.00), and Stitch-It Dolly Kit ($15.00), all shown above.

Cattiwampus is giving away two kits by The Little Experience for this week's giveaway (each winner gets to pick their kit of choice). And everyone else will get to enjoy a 15% storewide discount with code "COOL" (the code does not apply to sale items, except summer dresses- hooray!)

Win it! 2 MyMomShops reader will each win a The Little Experience kit of choice (a $7.50 or $15 retail value) from Cattiwampus. Here are the contest rules:

1) To enter, please comment on THIS post (click on "comments" below), indicating which kit you'd choose (click here for all of the choices).
2) Post your comment by 11:59pm EST Sunday, July 19th. One entry per person, please. US addresses only.
3) Two winners will be chosen at random and announced on Monday morning, July 20th.
4) NOTE: If you wish to be contacted by e-mail if you win, please include your e-mail address in your comment. Otherwise you must check back on Monday to see if you won. Unclaimed prizes are forfeited after 72 hours.

MyMomShops Giveaway: $100 Diapers.com Shopping Spree

First, I have some exciting news. I've been invited to join the BabyCenter Blog Network, a group of about 100 top bloggers who work with BabyCenter on various projects and write guest posts on BabyCenter's blog Momformation. I'm honored to be included in this group and look forward to working with BabyCenter!

As my first gig with BabyCenter, I'm hosting a fantastic giveaway--a $100 shopping spree at Diapers.com. I'm guessing many of you could put this to excellent use! I must admit that in the past year, I hadn't bought many things from Diapers.com, because I thought, well, that it mainly sold diapers (something we are happily DONE with in this house). But, it turns out that Diapers.com offers much more than diapers. There is actually a large selection of top-notch products ranging from toys to birthday party supplies to clothing and shoes for kids up to age 5 or so. More on that in a bit.

And since I'm a frugalista, I'm glad to report that you can save mucho bucks at Diapers.com. The prices during sales (like now through July 20th), can't be beat. You can even use coupon codes on top of sale prices. There is also fast 2-day shipping (in fact, some orders even arrive overnight) plus free shipping on orders of $49+. Finally, Diapers.com knows that online shoppers want to be rewarded for brand loyalty. So they've launched a totally free "Take 5" loyalty program" where new customers get $10 off their first order and $5 off every order after that. Go ahead and take advantage of it.

I was given a chance to spend $100 at Diapers.com and I found tons of great stuff. In fact, I got a bunch of supplies for S's upcoming Batman 5th Birthday Party, including Batman Brave & Bold Dessert Plates (on sale for $0.89, regularly $3.49), Batman Brave & Bold Centerpiece (on sale for $1.49, regularly $5.99), dinner plates and confetti (both out of stock now--sorry!) and (one of S's birthday gifts)--Fisher Price iXL Software DC Superfriends Batman ($24.99).

Plus, we needed to restock on some of our dried-out arts-and-craft supplies, so I picked up this Play-Doh Rainbow Case of Colors (on sale for $5.79, regularly $6.99) and Melissa & Doug Dry Erase Markers ($3.99).

Of course, if you are an expectant mom a mom with younger children, you'll find even more products that are appropriate for you and your kids at Diapers.com. Not just diapers & wipes, but also maternity clothing & accessories, baby gear, feeding & njrsing supplies, baby gifts gifts and infant/toddler clothing. Best of all, a lot of it is currently on sale through July 20th. Here are 2 of my favorite finds:

Baby frames and keepsake by Pearhead. Shown below: Happy/Sad Frame Set (on sale for $14.95; originally $19.95)

PJs and nightgowns by Sara's Prints. Shown below: Snug Fitting Love Pajamas (on sale for $12.69, orignally $28; sizes 2T-5).

MyMomShops Giveaway: Lil Swanky

A few months ago I was searching for a particular girls' clothing brand online (Luna Luna Copenhagen) and ended up at this new online boutique Lil Swanky. I browsed around and loved what I saw- carefully selected clothing by youthful, fun designers like Splendid Little, Joah Love, and Appaman. Founded by mom/fashionista Emily Hornstein-Quagliani, Lil Swanky recognizes the need for an online shop that sells both well-known high end children's apparel as well as some of the more cutting-edge newcomers (while I personally tend towards the former, I love browsing the latter...) The lucky winner of this $100 gift certificate will get to choose from gorgeous threads like these:

Bobinette Buckaroo Turquoise Gingham Shirt (sizes 4T, 5, and 6; $54). Bobinette makes the most colorful, trendy shirts for little boys.

Dolls and Divas Striped Tutu Dress ($84, sizes 2T or 3T). I like this look...a princess-y style but in black and white.

Little Celebrity Respect Your Mother Tee ($24, sizes 4T-12). A fun unisex tee- will make a great hand-me-down.

Splendid Littles Tank Leggings Set ($66; sizes 2T-4T). So cute for summer!

Luna Luna Copenhagen Soleil Top ($50, sizes 3-6mos to 4T). Is this gorgeous or what? It can only be more perfect with....

Luna Luna Copehagen Dilly Dally Bloomers ($50, size 3-6mos or 6-12mos) The perfect finishing touch. Too cute.

Win it! 1 MyMomShops reader will win a $100 gift certificate to Lil Swanky. Here are the contest rules:

1) To enter, please comment on THIS post (click on "comments" below), indicating what your favorite item at Lil Swanky is.
2) Post your comment by 11:59pm EST Sunday, June 21st. One entry per person, please. US addresses only.

MyMomShops Sponsor and Giveaway: Boumy

I've learned more than a few things about baby gear while writing this blog, and one is that the Dutch know what they're doing. Not only do they appreciate stylish design, but they are also super-attentive to high-quality materials and details. So I am glad to introduce you to our newest sponsor, Boumy. If you haven't heard of them before, you'll be hearing the company's name a lot more in months to come. This Dutch brand, created in 1998 by mom-of-two Anouk Henderson, boasts stylish, high quality leather "easy to slip on and stay on" baby shoes. The name "Boumy", by the way, comes from her younger son's nickname.

Boumy quickly took off in the Netherlands where it became the pre-eminant brand of baby shoe. Ever since exhibiting at the esteemed Pitti Bimbo kids' tradeshow in Italy, Boumy has become sought-after in other countires as well, and it is now expanding to the U.S. Anouk still designs all of the shoes herself and makes sure they stand out from other brands with their top-notch craftsmanship and highest quality 100% soft leather which doesn't constrict or pinch little baby feet. This not only helps promote healthy foot development, but also helps the littlest walkers feel as if they are barefoot. Also, since the leather is all-natural, the shoes "breathe" and keep kids cooler in summer. There is elastic ankle fastening for pulling the shoes on quickly and easily, and they do not slip off on their own (nor do they slip on surfaces thanks to a textured finish on the soles).

Boumy shoes are made for both boys and girls, and are available in lots of colorful, fun applique designs, solid colors, or boot styles. Almost all styles are available in sizes small (0-6mos), medium (6-12mos), large (12-18mos) and extra large (18-24mos). My personal favorites are Silver Polkadots for girls and Jogging Cobalt for boys. The solid silver pair (shown below) is also a top-seller, as are the sueded sand moccasions.

As it launches in the U.S. market, Boumy is exclusively available at its website. All pairs cost $32, which is not bad at all for high-quality all-leather shoes for babies. Flat rate shipping costs $6 to the U.S. and $7 to Canada. Visit Boumy.

Win it! One MyMomShops readers will win 2 pairs (their choice) of shoes by Boumy. This is a total value of $64. Here are the contest rules. The winner will be chosen by Random.org and announced on Friday morning, June 17th.

1) Visit Boumy and then leave a comment here about your favorite pair of shoes on the site. Leave your comment on THIS post (click on "comments" below).
2) Post your comment by 11:59pm EST on Thursday, June 16th.
3) You may leave up to 3 separate entries- 1 entry with a comment as described in #1, 1 entry indicating that you follow MyMomShops on Twitter (please provide your Twitter handle), and 1 entry indicating that you are a newsletter subscriber (if you want to subscribe, e-mail me with "newsletter" in the subject line).
