Shoe-loving mamas, have you seen these adorable rubbery kids' shoes by Vivienne Westwood in collaboration with Brazilian footwear brand Melissa? I wonder if SJP has these for her twin girls. I spotted these shoes earlier this summer at a store outside of NYC, but you can order them online from Brooklyn shop Epaulet. Caveat: They cost $70/pair (and that's the sale price).

Sneak(er) Peek
My kids and I recently attended a preview for the upcoming New Balance kids' sneaker line featuring the Peanuts characters (many thanks to Isabel of Alpha Mom for inviting us). Available in October, these sneakers will bring to life some favorite Peanuts' stories, including "It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown," "A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving," and "A Charlie Brown Christmas", all in time for the Peanuts' 60th Anniversary in 2010. Prices start at $38 for the infant sizes up to $60 for big kid sizes. I was impressed how they look (and though not shown here, the packaging is cute, too):

R. and S. were most impressed that they got face-time with their favorite Peanuts characters:

If you're into seasonal apparel for your kids (as a Halloween babe myself, I sure am) and/or are a Peanuts fan, you'll definitely want to check out these sneakers this Fall. I'll let you know when they become available.
p.s. Speaking of the Charlie Brown holiday TV classics, if you're a fan you should also check out the Charlie Brown Holiday Collection DVD gift set at Amazon.com.

Kicks for Lego Fans

Have you seen these new Lego Sneakers yet? I spotted them in my last issue of Earnshaw's and thought they were so adorable. It can be tough to find cute (but not too babyish) kicks for little boys. These Lego Bleeker Preschool Sneakers are perfect for back-to-school and they're even on sale (reduced to $29.98 from $39.99). Buy them at Finish Line.
Summer Shoe Sale

I see a lot of cute kids' shoes while working on this blog, but unfortunately many of them are only available in infant or toddler sizes. It's a bitter pill to swallow when my son, who is not even 3 yet, already wears a size 12 shoe! So I'm glad to learn that rising shoe star Vincent Shoes goes all the way to big kid sizes. I love their styles, and their prices, too. Right now they are having a summer clearance sale with prices up to 75% off. I have my eye on these sweet flowered "Malin" sandals (at top, reduced to $20.45 from $40.95, sizes toddler 8 through youth 3.5) for my daughter and these retro style "Roger" sneaks (at bottom, reduced to $19.45 from $38.95, sizes toddler 9 through youth 1) for my son. Snatch these up on sale before they're gone at Vincent Shoes.

Pumpkin Robeez
At Barnes & Noble last week, I spotted these adorable Robeez Halloween Pumpkin (especially made for that store). Unfortunately, they're only available in sizes 6-12 months (much too small for my gargantuan 13-month-old), but if you know a smaller munchkin, these would make an adorable gift. $24.99 at Barnes & Noble.
Bravo for Bandolino

I got 2 more pairs of sandals at Macy's recently, both on sale and both by Bandolino. I think this is actually a brand I wore back in junior high school! Thankfully, the styles have evolved. As a New Yorker who walks everywhere, I need low and comfortable sandals, and this were both extra cute to boot. Shown above: Jonika Kitten Heel Sandals ($49) and Quizzer Thong Sandals (on sale for $35.99, reduced from $49). Both are available in different colors, too. Browse dozens of other Bandolino shoes at Macy's (and always be sure to check out Macys.com deals and coupons page to save even more on your order).

Spring in my Step

Summer weather brings out the shoe addict in me (though I'm no Carrie Bradshaw...I rarely buy shoes over $100). Right now I'm coveting these Flowered Heels by, who else, Boden. With a touch of shiny patent leather and 2 3/4" heels, these are just about perfect for summer soirees. $158 (in magenta, emerald, or antiqued gold as shown) at Boden.

MyMomShops Sponsor and Giveaway: Boumy

I've learned more than a few things about baby gear while writing this blog, and one is that the Dutch know what they're doing. Not only do they appreciate stylish design, but they are also super-attentive to high-quality materials and details. So I am glad to introduce you to our newest sponsor, Boumy. If you haven't heard of them before, you'll be hearing the company's name a lot more in months to come. This Dutch brand, created in 1998 by mom-of-two Anouk Henderson, boasts stylish, high quality leather "easy to slip on and stay on" baby shoes. The name "Boumy", by the way, comes from her younger son's nickname.
Boumy quickly took off in the Netherlands where it became the pre-eminant brand of baby shoe. Ever since exhibiting at the esteemed Pitti Bimbo kids' tradeshow in Italy, Boumy has become sought-after in other countires as well, and it is now expanding to the U.S. Anouk still designs all of the shoes herself and makes sure they stand out from other brands with their top-notch craftsmanship and highest quality 100% soft leather which doesn't constrict or pinch little baby feet. This not only helps promote healthy foot development, but also helps the littlest walkers feel as if they are barefoot. Also, since the leather is all-natural, the shoes "breathe" and keep kids cooler in summer. There is elastic ankle fastening for pulling the shoes on quickly and easily, and they do not slip off on their own (nor do they slip on surfaces thanks to a textured finish on the soles).
Boumy shoes are made for both boys and girls, and are available in lots of colorful, fun applique designs, solid colors, or boot styles. Almost all styles are available in sizes small (0-6mos), medium (6-12mos), large (12-18mos) and extra large (18-24mos). My personal favorites are Silver Polkadots for girls and Jogging Cobalt for boys. The solid silver pair (shown below) is also a top-seller, as are the sueded sand moccasions.

As it launches in the U.S. market, Boumy is exclusively available at its website. All pairs cost $32, which is not bad at all for high-quality all-leather shoes for babies. Flat rate shipping costs $6 to the U.S. and $7 to Canada. Visit Boumy.
Win it! One MyMomShops readers will win 2 pairs (their choice) of shoes by Boumy. This is a total value of $64. Here are the contest rules. The winner will be chosen by Random.org and announced on Friday morning, June 17th.

Gymboree Cape Cod Cutie
The new Cape Cod Cutie collection is one of my favorite Gymboree lines in awhile. As much as I love pink alone, it's nice to see it mixed with navy blue--a very preppy palette. I just picked up a couple of pieces for R. and saved a ton because everything is 20% off right now (even on this new collection) plus I had an additional 20% off coupon from my latest issue of Family Fun magazine. Here's what I bought:
Lobster Cardigan (reduced to $27.96 from $34.95)

Tile Print Knit Dress (reduced to $23.96 from $29.95)

Tile Print Bow Flip Flop (reduced to $11.96 from $14.95)
Browse the entire line here; also the boys' Summer Harbor line coordinates nicely for sibs.

First Cleats

Here's a cute new footwear gift for infants. First Cleats makes infant-sized crib shoes to look like soccer, baseball or football cleats. Each pair comes in one size (0-6mos) and costs $29.95. I like that they come in pink, too. Never too early to inspire your little Mia Hamm! Buy them at at First Cleats.
ENK Roundup: Part One
I have several more finds to tell you about from the ENK Children's Show at the Javits Center this past July. In no particular order, here are some things you should definitely check out:
Super-soft, 100% cotton kids' pajamas ($29) by Canadian company Hatley. Hatley's slogan is "clothes to nature." Cute. My kids wear Hatley PJs and they are fantastic. Love 'em.

Fantastic, brand-new Re-Run Messenger bag ($75) by Fleurville. It's more compact than Fleurville's popular MotherShip bag, and made entirely from recycled plastic bottle fabric. Each bag they make keeps ten 600ml plastic water bottles out of landfill. Impresive, and the silkscreening is so pretty, too!

Happy Baby Bags by Rock Candy Music ($20). Adorable and affordable gift set which contains cuddly, plush hand puppet, full-length CD with gentle, instrumental tunes (ranging from Elvis to Motown to classical). Great shower or new baby gift.

New for Fall '07 "Love" Robeez ($27.95)- you already know great Robeez look and feel on your little one's feet!

More to come!

Reunion!
I am headed to Boston this Friday (with R. and S. in tow) for my 15th college reunion. Boy, am I starting to feel old. When I graduated college in 1994, I had big hair, big glasses, and no e-mail account. Times sure have changed! Fortunately, so have I. And, recently I treated myself to some new clothing and shoes, which I think I will wear to the reunion. I've lost weight recently (down a clothing size...) so I am especially excited to wear these:
Deep Blue Pleated Scoopneck Jersey Dress ($69) from Ann Taylor Loft. The dress not only looks fantastic but is so comfortable and impossible to wrinkle- great for travelling!

Jewelled Sandals ($98) from Boden. I've worn these a few times already and I love 'em. R. calls them "mommy's princess shoes." Cute.
Stay tuned...maybe I'll post some photos. ;-)

Bye Bye Booties

I've written at the blog about our affiliate Isabooties, which was one of the only "vegan" (non-leather) baby shoe options for some moms. There are just a few pairs left on the site right now (including those cute ones pictured above--navy with orange stripes), so you might want to grab some for yourself or as baby gifts (I've always liked their free gift packaging too). Visit Isabooties before it shuts its doors for good. Sorry to see them go.

Trend Alert: Espadrille Wedges

I've wanted to get espadrille wedges for this summer for awhile (they are everywhere now) but I had two requirements: that the heel not be too high (I don't like high heels and luckily I am already 5'7"), and that the price not be too high either. At Macy's last weekend I bought these BOC Rosebay Wedge Sandals that are honestly some of the most comfortable shoes I've ever worn. Plus, they look great (I bought them in turquoise, not orange...click on the link to see how they look in turquoise). The leather is very soft and the cork wedge platform, at 2 3/4 inches, is just the right height. Highly recommend them! A pair costs $69, though with coupons I nabbed it for $55. Check out the other new espadrilles and wedges at Macy's.

Summery Sandals

I was browsing Vera Bradley and found these Bali Gold Straw Sandals which I think are so pretty. Made with natural fibers and straw, the sandals are priced at a reasonable $28/pair in sizes small (5/6), medium (7/8) and large (9/10). Check out coordinating "island" accessories, too, at Vera Bradley.

Twinkle Toes

I'm a big fan of Geox shoes and now my daughter is too (and so are her friends). R. is now one of four girls in her kindergarten class who sport these Geox Kids Tokio Lights Sneaks. They look pretty in the picture, but they are even more fun in person- they have little lights that flash when she walks. And, they are very comfortable since they are made with Geox's patented breathable exterior. They're on sale for $71.10 (reduced from $79) in sizes 11-3 at Zappos.
