Gigi's Gear - leopard coat

I think America's faaaaavorite dressy casual outfit is a black top w/jeans. Next time you're shopping, check out the number of people, esp women, who have on a black top/shirt/sweater with jeans. I call it the cop out outfit. I try to avoid it. I mean, really avoid it. If I do wear a black top w/jeans, I try to bump it up by wearing an unexpected shoe, jacket or jewelry. On this day, I think I went out only for a short bit and decided to quickly build an outfit around the jacket. Yeah, yeah, I see how easy it is to end up in black jeans and a top, but I still try to stay way from it. The jacket is from Forever 21. It's on the heavier side and the texture is brocade, better than what I'd expect from F21. Well actually, I have to say that they tend to do some of their jackets very well. Definitely keep them on your radar for fun jackets if you shop there. I usually find at least one goodie/year.

If I were to wear this again, I'd add jewelry. I might have avoided it because of the huge stone on my wedges.

Gigi's Gear - forever 21 floral

Whenever I would see pregnant women walking in the sweltering heat, I'd always feel some of their pain. Or at least I'd like to think I did. I envisioned swollen feet and complete discomfort. I silently wished them well and the feeling that it would all be worth it. When I wore this it was 90 degrees. I definitely got a few looks when I took a couple breaks on mall couches. I may have looked big and uncomfortable, but I felt great. Maternity dressing has gone as well as I expected. Probably a little easier in some ways since I've been able to stay in non-maternity tops. One awesome thing is...I'm no longer worried about what size my stomach is. Well, not worried about whether it looks flat or not.

One thing not so fun thing is that I was in-between sizes pre-pg and am in-between sizes in maternity pants. I'm still wearing 4s or 6s. I wish I had known I'd need a 6 in these and not a 4. Oh well.





Kathy of JCAUNC Mom sent me J Crew's rose gold dangling disc necklace fo' freeeeee. I was lucky to be the 1st to see her post on it. What a sweetie! I am wearing it doubled around my neck w/J Crew's silk tie ribbon necklace. This dangling disc necklace also came in a regular gold tone.



ETA: I'm disappointed to learn that 'pregnancy brain' is real. I'd like to stay in denial, but it's getting less and less possible. I chalk it up to my thoughts being on baby to-do lists more than some temporary, inexplicable impairment. At any rate, the correct Kathy that lovingly gave me her necklace is from Two Hands Full of Daisies. Thanks again , Kathy :)

Oh, the maxi. Let's bless whoever decided that ground skimming dresses should be en vogue. I like how slimming the column cut maxis can be and that I can sit with my legs open a bit without showing anything to the world.

Gigi's Gear - Arianna dress

I really disliked J Crew's Arianna dress when I tried it on in this post. Nothing like a couple months and a belly weight gain to change my mind. I've found that even some maternity tops creep up a little in the front, so this dress is a refreshing change from wondering if I'm sharing my linea nigra with the world.

Gigi's Gear - turquoise & stripes

It's gettin' hot in hurrrr. Actually today was very warm, but not hot, per se My body temp has definitely been higher while expecting. As I'm coming towards the end, I have to admit it's getting more difficult to get dressed. In some moments I don't even want to lift my legs to get into bottoms. The upside is if I know I can fit into it, I'm not too too picky about what I wear. And it's still easy to make it look like I really put some though into, enter the turquoise necklace. I'm always in the mood for stripes! What's different about this top is that it's a bit drapey, which is why it still fits. Thank yooouuuu, F21!
