If you're a New York City mom, you may have heard of a wonderful non-profit organization called Baby Buggy, which provides essential equipment, clothing, and baby products to needy NYC families. Founded by Jessica Seinfeld (yes, the wife of Jerry Seinfeld) in 2002, Baby Buggy so far has distributed over 3.6 million items, including cribs, strollers, and diapers. I donated extra or gently-used baby gear to Baby Buggy myself after my kids outgrew them.
On Tuesday, June 2nd from 4:30pm-7:30pm, Baby Buggy will host its 3rd Annual Baby Buggy Bedtime Bash, a family-friendly party, at the super-fun Victorial Gardens Amsueument Park in Central Park. Co-chairs include the Seinfelds, Mario Batali, Natalia Morales, and Emeril Lagasse, but your kids will probably be more interested in Clifford, Bob the Builder, Angelina Ballerina, and WordGirl, who will also be in attendance! Tickets are $175 per adult and $75 per child.
I had lunch with one of Baby Buggy's supporters recently and she told me that, like so many NYC non-profits, there has been a huge increase in the number of clients seeking help from Baby Buggy. Buying all the things a new baby needs is an expensive proposition at any time; in this economy it is harder for more new parents than ever. Plesae support Baby Buggy.
