American Idol - 13 kick it off

The show was 2 hours tonite. You know how they like to drag things out, so I didn't really know what to expect.

Lauren - The 1st singer, sang Shania Twain. The mic didn't sound like it was giving enough volume. Very karaoke. Ooh, she's only 16.

Casey - Sang Joe Cocker. My note for him would be to sing w/a rockin' Gospel choir a few times until he gets the spirit in him. I felt like he held bad. Coulda used a little holy ghost. They like to see people 'go away' when they sing. Well, I guess I do as long as they come back. Good as usual. Goosebumper.

Ashthon - I swear they had a bad mic up there. She looked really good. Sang the Diana Ross song. I thought she did a good job w/her high notes, but the downsides were that she sounded like Beyonce. I think Ashthon has different tones in there and should bring those out more to sound original. She also had some trouble w/mic control in the beginning. I noticed that last time.

Paul - I didn't think the Ryan Adams song was a match. The key wasn't right for him. I'm still surprised this guy made it to the final 13. I think the producers also think about who they're going to employ for the tour, album and so on. Maybe they think he's good for that. Lemme say this. I will fall out if he's voted the Idol. Interesting clothing, though. Definitely memorable.

Pia - Sang All By Myself, popularized again by Celine Dion. It was originally in 1975, and I guess I knew, but never really realized it was a man singing:  Eric Carmen. I thought Pia did pretty good w/her song.

Haley - I thought she did a really, really good job w/her song that LeAnn Rimes popularized. I agree w/JLo that she has a sexy quality. I agree and think it works for her.

Jacob - Sang I Believe I Can Fly. I loooooove that song. Don't you think he kind of forgot the words here and there? Filled it with some yah, yah, yahs. I have to say he was on a bad track until he fell into the right notes at the chorus. Wow. Did I already say it? Final 3. He has to make it to the final 3.

Stefano - Shut up. He sang another one of my all time favorites, Lately. I know I wore it out on a cassette or two long ago. Shaky start. Then I got mad when they moved into House mode. Who in the HELL comes up w/some of these arrangements? I agree w/the note about keeping his eyes open. Stefano closes them a lot and it's not great for stage presence. He can sing, but I'm mad they messed up my song. If you're going to remix a song like that, let Missy or someone do it. Ugh.

Naima - She got to work w/Tricky. Lucky! I like that Naima started off really strong. One of the few contestants that did. I adore it when she wears bright, beautiful colors.I felt bad for her going last, but she held it down. Great way to close. I was impressed.

I didn't comment on everyone. I think of what they're going thru and imagine they're in a whirlwind. I hope they're having fun as they go thru this experience. It must be some ride.
