William Eggleston: Los Alamos

I grabbed half an hour the other day to hop over to the Whitney Museum of American Art, where I worked for two years right after college. I saw the exhibition William Eggleston: Democratic Camera: Photographs and Video 1961-2008 (sorry, New Yorkers, it has just closed). This was the first U.S. retrospective for Eggleston, a major American 20th century photographer (and one of my favorites) who is best known for his emotive, color-saturated works. My favorite segment of the show was these photographs from his Los Alamos series, taken between 1965 and 1974 (not necessarily in the Los Alamos by the way; the artist visited that town at some point during those years, but it is possible many of the photos were taken elsewhere).
