Allow me to tell you about a great new nonfiction book, Intern: A Doctor's Initiation, written by Dr. Sandeep Jauhar. Sandeep is the brother-in-law of one of my dearest friends N. (who just had a baby boy- congratulations!) and I also adore his wife and young son (who is a playmate of my daughter's). Besides being the Director of the Heart Failure Program at Long Island Jewish Medical Center, Sandeep is also an accomplished writer (he writes for The New York Times), and now has published this memoir of his grueling years as a young resident at New York Hospital.
