J Crew - sailor-stripe always cardigan

First up...

Krameymartin is giving away a $25 giftcard to J Crew or Anthro. Your choice. Enter to win in this post on her blog.

J Crew's sailor-stripe always cardigan (31428) runs XS - XL with two color choices. It's been on fs for $24.99, so sizes are limited or gone. Surely it will popback from time to time.

Navy

Size S - I threw it on over lounge pants from ON & the silk camisole from J Crew. I wouldn't wear this as an outfit. I ended up returning this because I found a cardigan from F21 for $11.50 that looks more hip than this one looks on me. Check it out on Ginger Girl.

In other news, I received today's mail and no 25% off multi-use crewpon for me. I am the one that checks the mail, so I know it didn't get thrown away. I've decided to abstain from J Crew until the card expires. I've received crewpons and gifts in the past. I didn't receive the recent gifts of fruit or luggage, which is fine, but I feel that I should have recvd this card. I've spent a good deal of money with the company. I don't keep everything - yes, I return - but my net purchases are still high, imo. Additionally, my blog is J Crew heavy as I'm clearly for the brand. I've seen J Crew reach out exactly once to bloggers and that was the 15% + free shipping code provided on J Crew Aficionada (JCA), aka The Mothership, earlier this year. Please let me know if there are other offers/promos/giveaways from corporate that I haven't seen and I will stand corrected.

Bloggers exist and don't seem to be going anywhere soon. JCA, specifically, has helped the J Crew brand immensely, whether J Crew wants to acknowledge it in their fancy PR or not. I recall absolutely no mention of blogs or even the general umbrella of social media, which are integral in all types of businesses today. It's almost disrespectful to behave as though the staff of J Crew is the only factor in the company's success. Alexis's blog really gave us a place to vent and try to figure out what was going when their website was updated in summer of 08. If I hadn't discovered the JCA blog, I would have written the store off. From my perception as a newer customer, they were operating as though they didn't have it together. At all. JCA and the community kept me in the fold as we discussed things and I was quickly a convert. I will also credit JCA and community with the reason I launched this blog in the 1st place. It all started with me creating a place to share a couple of irl photos as requested by someone. I thought I was sharing those things and that would be it. I had no grand plans. Not even small plans. Here it is 2 years later and my blog is more than alive & kickin'. My guess is hundreds of blogs were started as a result of JCA or a degree of separation from JCA and that's why I call JCA The Mothership. I've been holding back my thoughts about J Crew's absence of interaction with bloggers and yes, I'm kind of lumping it in w/not receiving a crewpon. Of course it is absolutely J Crew's choice to not interact w/bloggers and perhaps there is some legal reason along with others they may have. The crewpons may be computer generated based on some marketing program (I'm guessing), but they could also use the blogger pipeline to connect customers with the brand. The Internet is not going to keep the crewpon a secret.

I love J Crew. I'm an addict for the brand and the lost fashion geek inside me has emerged again as a result of shopping in the store & online. I adore communicating with you all, which is so fun! I will definitely keep things going as usual in the future with irl pics & reviews. For the time being I'm choosing to hold off on posting reviews of any J Crew items I currently have pics of in the hopper. I also won't be visiting the store to capture new pieces, if any. My one exception is that if there is a 30% off code available online, I will update & post for that as I usually do.

Chime in...
